The vase is filled with red liquid and placed on a high “table”- by the time the installation stands it will witter. The liquid will evaporate as if it was soaked up by the flowers, leaving a trace on the glass container - and around the flowers through the liquid mould will spread as a layer of decomposition.
The crowns of the flowers are casted skin and by time the latex will react to the sunlight and change colour - beginning at a light tone becoming more pinkish. There are bodily references to this work. But also thinking of “still life” and “Symbolism”- the flowers act as a gesture. an apology, a love declaration and grief. I’ve become interested in the constructed placements and situations of where you find these installations of wittering flowers. On the side of the road, indicating an accident - Death - Memorials - Feasts - Love - Qualms. If it has a clear agenda for someone placing them. It could be only a disconnected object in a public place for someone else meeting that arrangement. But indicating an occurrence and forming a lead/assosiation. Beliefs - expectrations.
You cut the life to root the meaning of your beliefs to others. a quiet thought. The cut flower becomes a metaphor to passion, living and passing - since it will witter and fall. a declaration of understanding or a symbol for our lack of understanding moving on to acting, feeling and seeing. a hello and a goodbye - a gesture that is purely flesh and interpersonal.
